INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY; ITS VALUE AND IMPORTANCE ACCORDING TO ME...

Hello all,

Women's Day

8th March, the “Women’s Day”, a day to remember the continuous struggle of this gender for their rights. The world is celebrating the day to salute and admit the worth they have. This day is being celebrated since 1914 on 8th March. We must not celebrate the day as a formality (as many do) but we need to admit its importance of them in our society. If you do not admit it still they are vibrant in their roles.

A Woman

A woman is kind when she is a mother, guide as a teacher, friend as a sister, partner as a housewife, dedicated towards duties as a co-worker, and so on. They ruled, they played, served, conquered, entertain, and succeeded in all the ways of life, but lesser appreciated as they deserved. It took a long time for winning recognition. Give this attitude an end and state a new way of equality and appreciation.

Being a father of two loving girls and a naughty boy, I feel proud and blessed. I always tried to provide an equal share of life to my daughters. But when we talk about the system and society, this equality is rare. Girls do not have equal opportunities even in this so-called modern era.

I am a part of southeast Asia where this ignorance is at its height. Although some ice melted with the efforts of civil society in major cities. Village and poor women are still living as in the stone age.

First, I want to discuss the education system where the number of schools and colleges is less than the requirement in the sub-continent. On the other hand, education is quite expensive and a poor one cannot afford it. Now, what about most of the girls having not much means of income. These are the girls who could become a constructive part of society. They contribute as a future mother who has the responsibility to up-bring the next generation. There are few governments established schools for girls with limited resources that are not quite enough.

In rural areas, people themselves are not willing to send their girls to these schools. They prefer to participate in daily routine work at home. Their daily jobs are to grass and milk the cows, clean the houses, prepare food for their family members, take care of young siblings and sew clothes. Some of them are supposed to do laborious work in fields. A few get a chance to play with their age fellows.

The problem is the awareness that never had been given to them. They even do not want to claim their rights. They have been manipulated to keep quiet against all inequalities. If someone comes forward to say something she has to pay for it. The so-called elders penalize them by marrying at a young age and older ones, prisoning them inside the house, boycotting them in all events, and so on.

The government and NGOs, of course, are doing many projects for girls’ education but still, it is out of the reach of poor girls to fulfill their dreams. Then how can this problem be resolved? Education is a major and basic need of time and we should come forward with new ideas to solve this social problem. It is mostly recommended and a good idea, to contribute individually to help the needy. This help could be in the shape of money, books, furniture, or a place. You can also be supportive of some existing programs for women empowerment and awareness.

Secondly,  transportation is also a major problem for women. We can observe a limited space in public transport. People have not yet accepted women as a driver of the car or a scooter. The scooter riders are always targeted and bullied by the students and youngsters. Nowadays, in such a rush, the scooter is a blessing for women to reach their school, college, or workplace. We still assume women to the careless driver. Humor is made and spread on social media for the fun sake of women drivers. Well, it is a humiliating behavior to portray their small mistakes as a crime or a comedy. I think, sometimes, they have been shaky due to overall behaviors. If we trust them and buck them up, they will show a good result. I personally, witnessed so many women drivers who are even more expert than men.

When we talk about women, how can we forget those who have been exploited by our society? In the name of honor, they have been slaughtered and made Vanni or Kaari. In the name of so-called love, they have been avenged by throwing acid on their faces, leaving them in utter agony, anguish, and despair for life. Only one in a million of these victims receives rehabilitation to survive and manage the way somehow. Many are still struggling all alone in absence of dowry and there is no end to the sufferings of the women, especially in the third world.

I conclude as we should not only celebrate this as a day but make it a milestone of revolution. I suggest that we need to incorporate respect and appreciation for every woman in our children. So that in the future we can have a safer and more progressive world for our mothers, daughters, wives, and sisters, who are equally valuable to keep the equilibrium of this world.

Hoping for a change.

 Best regards.
